Behavioral Changes

Time indeed has been going past very quickly. One of the most prominent changes in Kannan ofcourse has been his speech. His vocabulary has increased tremendously (thanks to his mom and others at home). He speaks most of the words with clarity.

Off late the play school that he started attending is helping him pickup some of the English poems.
He recognises most of the alphabets and some of the numbers.


However one of the behavioural change which Kannan has shown is off Smacking anybody and everybody around. Especially if he upset he reacts this way. Not sure if that's something he has picked up from some of the things he watches on the TV(though he doesn't watch much of TV).
At present we are kind of perplexed how change this part of his change.

Kannan at Three and a Half years

Kannan is now three and a half years old, time has just flown by. This July we got him admitted to a play school (Chempaka) . As last year the first one week was tricky. He was having that morning sickness wherein he used to wake up and say he doesn't want to go to school. But I think the school folks have done well. Because from the second week onwards his attitude towards the school changed completely. He started insisting that he needs to go to the school. And till date that's the way it has been.


We recently had him put on a Mundu and a shirt for the Onam celebrations at his school. Obviously he looked very cute :-).

Kannan and his Kindergarten

Over the last year or so I have realised that no two kids are the same!

Kannan while he is extremaly talkative and active while at home, but then once he goes out he is absolutely silent and doesn't appreciate strangers lifting him. This is one of the reasons we decided to get into a play school quite early. About couple of months back we visited almost all the playschools in our vicinoty and selected one. Just one week into the school Kannan fell sick. In the last one month owing to this sickness, our vacation plans and Onam vacations he has been on and on in teh school. So we have really given him a chance to get settled in. Hopefully he feels more comfortable at the playschol in the coming days once he is regular there.

Quaterly Updates :-)

I used to call this post as Monthly update, but then its been quite some time since I made a post, hence had to call this one as Quaterly update.

Kannan has been quite naughty off late. One thing that we are worried is that he is not putting on much weight. He weights about 10 KG at years, not sure if this is normal. In terms of food he eats almost everything that we do, except for the spicy ones.

He converses a lot now.Infact we have start reading him some stories. He got himself couple of story books a week back. Interestingly to our surprise he also remembers the stories once told to him.

Pranav's Milestone's

A post which I wanted to publish much earlier but missed. Below are our Kannan's milestones as my wife and I observed.

4th Month: Started rolling over from front to back
5th Month: Started rolling over form back to front
7th Month: Started saying "Acha"
7,1/2 Month: Started sitting with support
8th Month: Started sitting all by himself
8,1/2 Month: Started to hold things to support himself to stand
8,1/2 Month started making gestures like Tata, handshake.

1.4 month's update

It's being close to 4 months since I last posted. Kannan as well has changed quite a bit.. About two month's back while my brother was here.. he acted very choosy and completely refused to go with them. Which to me was slightly surprising considering once upon a time he used to go with most of the people who could take him out.. Anyways now that his grandparents are here, he initially acted choosy with them as well. But then considering his grandpa is somebody who doesn't give up so easily, things changed. Now he readily goes with his grandpa.

Now Kannan runs like anything, he likes to walk all by himself in the open corridor right in front of our apartment. The only risk around this is that, he likes to try climbing and getting down stairs. So once of us have to be around when he is walking all by himself.

He was extremely choosy on the items to eat and the quantity as well up untill 2 weeks back. But then since last two weeks his habits have changed drastically. He now takes fruit pulp with curd, rice & dal, appam, dosa, idili, iddipaam & biscuits (though not all on the same day). Since had serious reservations on giving him biscuits, since biscuits have maida and sugar, hence we ended up trying a recipe of our own for cookies. Since we didn't have owen we tried the same in microwave. Out cookie consisted of Big Banana, crushed oats, cardmom, bit of dry fruits crushed, small quantity of some form of sweetener say jaggery. We haven't yet mastered it but he likes it mostly.

First Birthday Coming

The latest development is that we are looking forward to Pranav's first birthday in two weeks time. As always I have been a lazy bum when it comes to organising such this things or taking intiative in such cases. However my wife is pretty actively involved in thnking what could be done. Though we will keep it a low kery affair, since Pranav is actually two young to enjoy his own birthday :-)

Apart from this Pranav now has four teeth's popping out. He keeps bitting them making strange noises. His speed of crawling has increased remarkably and now he climbs some of the stairs back home all by himself ( though that's a pertrifying thought).
